Fifth Grade Curriculum
Purpose - To create a curriculum that met California State educational standards that could teach kids in a fun environment.
Overview - For this project we were assigned to create and educational curriculum to teach the students of an elementary class. I was paired with Jason Franks, Kyle Jones, and Joe Malliaras. First we made a survey to find out what 5th grade students were interested in most at school. This included, "what is your favorite school subject" or "what do you like to do outside of school". We then sent the surveys to the 5th grade class to answer so we would have a better idea of what the students liked rather than forcing labs that would be too mature for them or forcing science that they would ignore or be bored by.

When we received the surveys back, we leaned that the students were most interested in history and picture books. With this information we made the history of chemistry and its components picture book.
Reflection - With this project, I learned what fifth grade students are interested in which helped choose what type of project that met California state science standards. While our project might not be picked for the curriculum, it should be considered to be chosen. My group, while distracted, preformed well when the time came. But overall I think we did well on this project even with these distractions.
